Enable Banking Changelog | September 2026

Changelog September 2026

September brings a fix for BankID logins for some Swedbank customers in Sweden, instant SEPA payments for Nordea's Finnish customers, news that an upcoming SEPA deadline just got pushed back, a couple of brand changes worth knowing about, and the usual round of integration updates across Europe.

Significant Changes and Updates

Swedbank: BankID Login Fixed for Customers of Multiple Banks

This only affects Sweden. Swedbank shares its PSD2 platform with the local savings banks in its network. Each bank in the group, Swedbank included, has its own BankID code. Previously, if Swedbank couldn’t tell which bank in the group a customer’s BankID belonged to, it rejected the login with a "user must select bank" error, effectively locking out anyone whose BankID was tied to a different branch in the group.

The Swedbank integration now catches that specific response and automatically retries with the correct bank identifier, so authentication completes instead of failing. If your end users have reported random BankID login failures with Swedbank, this should resolve it.

Instant SEPA Payments Now Available for Nordea Customers in Finland

Nordea and Nordea Business in Finland now support instant SEPA payments. Customers can now send instant SEPA credit transfers and funds arrive at the beneficiary's bank in seconds rather than the standard SEPA settlement window. As with our other instant payment integrations, availability is dependent on the banks on both sides participating in SEPA Instant Credit Transfers, but where supported, this gives customers a faster payment option through the same API you already use for standard SEPA payments.

Heads Up: SEPA Structured Address Deadline Pushed Back

The European Payments Council (EPC), which sets the rules for SEPA payments, had planned that from 15 November 2026 a postal address written as free-text would no longer be valid on a SEPA Credit Transfer, Instant Credit Transfer, or Direct Debit. Addresses would need to be either fully structured (separate fields for street, building number, postcode, city, and country) or "hybrid" (country, city, plus one address line). In September, following a similar delay from Swift, the EPC removed that fixed date. A new one hasn't been set yet.

We shouldn't be treated as cancelled, just postponed. A number of banks are already tightening their address validation ahead of any EPC-wide cutover, each on its own timeline, and we are updating our integrations as it happens rather than in one big migration. Our payment initiation API already separates structured address fields from free-text address lines. If you send postal addresses with your SEPA payments, it's worth starting to fill out the structured fields now, so you're ready whichever date ends up being set.

A Rebrand Worth Knowing About

SEB corporate cards: cards branded "Eurocard" and issued through SEB Kort Bank Business now appear as AirPlus across Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Same cards, same identifiers, new name.
